Tested Off the Shelf, Reported Straight

Our aim is narrow and specific: to describe, in plain terms, what a formula actually does, how it wears through a workday, and whether it holds up once the weather stops cooperating. Nothing here is written to sell anything, including whatever we happen to prefer ourselves.

About Us

Proven Before It's Praised.

Cosmetics Review Guide is an independent testing publication for shoppers in the United States who want a clear answer before spending real money on a lipstick, a foundation, a fragrance, or a bottle of shampoo. Every item we cover is purchased anonymously at retail — off the same drugstore shelf, the same Sephora or Ulta Beauty counter, the same Target aisle or CVS endcap available to any reader, sometimes ordered plainly through Amazon.com. We accept no free samples, no paid placements, and we publish no sponsored rankings. A product appears in a comparison because we bought it and put it through the same tests as its rivals, not because a brand asked us to.

Cosmetics Review Guide

Foundation and concealer are tested across the fair, light, medium, tan, and deep range readers actually shop by, not just on a single arm swatch. Lipstick and mascara get judged on transfer, fade, and how they behave once humidity climbs on a July commute or heating dries everything out by February. We are less interested in a swatch photo than in what a formula looks like eight hours later.
